Karate Kid Sequel in the Works

by TheMcGuffin on Aug.27, 2010, under Top Stories

This is barely news as everyone knew it was happening, but a sequel for The Karate Kid remake is being fast tracked. Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, writers of Kung Fu Panda, have been tapped to pen the sequel. I very much doubt this would be a remake of the original second Karate Kid… lets see how this one develops

Insert 1 credit to continue: Save Scott Pilgrim vs the World!

by TheHappyKnife on Aug.17, 2010, under Top Stories

The ridiculously awesomeScott Pilgrim vs the World is not doing so well at the box office. I hope that it turns out to be a slow and steady burner at theaters, but it may not be too likely. If you haven’t seen it yet and enjoy watching fun, well-acted, and well-written movies, see it now, see it twice, see it thrice.

First Trailer for John Woo co-directed Reign of Assassins

by TheMcGuffin on Apr.22, 2010, under Top Stories

Michelle Yeoh starts in this John Woo co-directed martial arts film… which happens to carry heavy whiffs of Crouch Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The other half of the directing (and writing) is done by Su Chao-Pin. It’s difficult to know where Woo ends and Su begins but the trailer below is intriguing. The film looks a lot less homoerotic than Woo’s usual body of work which leads one to believe that Woo has inserting himself as co-director in name alone to give the film the best chance of success.

Newer New Ong Bak 3 Trailer

by TheMcGuffin on Apr.12, 2010, under Top Stories

A newer Ong Bak 3 trailer has been released into the wild, this time highlighting more of the story (if there really is one). From what I have gleamed on other sites, in this installment Tony Jaa’s character has been captured and tortured. Every single bone in his body has been broken and he is some how healed and made into an even better figher (I think they filled him with adamantium or some shit like that).

5 Drink Minimum: The Warrior (1981)

by TheHappyKnife on Feb.19, 2010, under 5 Drink Minimum, Reviews

The Warrior is The Chinese Connection meets Chinese Super Ninjas, but…Indonesian?

Does the thought of brightly colored, flagrantly acrobatic, old-school martial arts action send blood hurtling towards the swollen and tingly areas of your bikini zone? If so, step up to the bar, open wide, and swallow what I give you. 5 Drink Minimum is open for business, and our special of the day is the Indonesian martial arts fantasy film The Warrior.

Tekken Film Trailer!

by TheHappyKnife on Feb.18, 2010, under Top Stories

Tekken, for those of you unfamiliar with it, is one of the biggest fighting game franchises around, and is made by the Japanese company Namco. I’m a decent fan of the fighting game franchise (and fairly handy with character Brian Fury in Tekken 3, 5, and Tag), but it looks like we’ve got another video-game to film adaption.

*Sigh*

Film adaptions of video games have an extremely spotty record where quality is concerned. Odds are that this’ll suck like a man who has a gun leveled to his head, but I hope (against all common sense) that might be fun enough to be worth sneaking a flask into later.
